CADMIUM
TELLURIDE MODULES
Arendi, a company active in photovoltaic
energy, is developing and will manage an
industrial plant to produce PV units based
on cadmium telluride
(CdTe) thin film technology.
The annual production will be around 15 MW
(approx. 200,000 units of 0.7 m2,
with a 10% effi ciency).
Main innovations of the patented process
developed::
New method for CdS deposition: sputtering
in CHF3 conditions
• Absence of CdCl2 and acids like HNO3
and HPO3, the most toxic compounds used in
the conventional CdTe industry
• The process works in “dry” conditions,
no water solutions are used
• A new junction technology for CdTe layer
(more stability)
• Lower manufacturing costs
