ELLETRE has patented ELTAP , a new alternative system to the conventional cut to length system applicable to all profile mills for electrowelded tubes.

With ELTAP you can predetermine the weight of the in-process tube in real time and execute the cut, not according to its length as in the past but according to its weight.

The system consists principally of a high-precision measuring unit having the same thickness as the tube wall and a powerful calculation system capable of determining the weight of the produced tube in real time.

The tube arriving from the mill floats on the liquid in a tank in which two ultrasound probes are immersed. The probes propagate the measurement signals without any risk of disturbance and/or resonance.

Even the differences in thicknesses contained in very small spaces are detected due to a dense scan of readings that, once processed, are integrated along the longitudinal axis of the tube.   This determines the instantaneous volume and consequently the corresponding weight of the tube. Once the preset weight is obtained, the system commands the tube cut.

Today a new model of Eltap is available, suitable for installation on the structure of one of the Turk heads. The main feature of this latest version is the very small size of the structure and the fact that it can even be physically inserted in an existing system
