On the exhibitor side, 54% of participants came from outside Germany. Among these, Marcegaglia attended the event in the hall 17 dedicated to the manufacturing of steel sheets. The Italy-based group has developed, within it over 50 years of story, a full range of carbon and stainless steel flat products which include both sheets and strips, besides the coils production, and heavy (quarto) plates.
Within the carbon steels, Marcegaglia steel metal plates or cut-to-length sheets are manufactured through 25 lines worldwide and represent the common used steel material for several application sectors as well as the carbon steel strips production which is carried out in 4 main European plants: Ravenna, Gazoldo degli Ippoliti and Corsico in Italy and Kluczbork in Southern Poland. Outside Europe, Marcegaglia can count on additional slitting units in Brazil – with a service centre in the Garuva, Santa Catarina plant – and logistic bases in the US and China. The range of heavy (quarto) plates is manufactured in the dedicated unit of San Giorgio di Nogaro in the North-Eastern part of Italy – ISO 9001 certified – with an output of 400,000 tonnes/year of plates.
On the stainless steel side, within its integrated strategy of expansion, Marcegaglia has added – in the Gazoldo degli Ippoliti plant – the manufacturing of coils and sheets 1D and 2B finish to its range of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel products and a production of hot and cold rolled strips.
