Marcegaglia: a new tool capable of continuously measuring the mechanical and microstructural properties of steel strips or sheets and online metal alloys.

The brand new tool overcoming the limitations of the instruments available today is a new measuring instrument that can also be used for non-ferromagnetic materials, such as aluminum alloys, austenitic stainless steels, copper alloys, brass and others.
The operating principle of the new tool is the binding  between the mechanical properties of the material and the process parameters: the system directly submits the material to a combination of forces of compression and traction on the section of the raw material by measuring the resulting deformation through particular instruments such as encoders or laser velocimeters.
The method also allows to evaluate the percentage of recrystallization of a cold-deformed metal material, after a high-temperature annealing process.
