Nowadays Marcegaglia may offer
the widest product range on a world scale of stainless
steel tubes, open profiles, drawn tubes and flat
items-with a wall thickness choice from 0.4 to
6 mm and diameter dimensions from 6 to
406.4 mm.
Starting from the black coil, then passing through
pickling and afterwards rolling, the steel transformation
process includes annealing and “skinpass”
rolling both of strips and coils up to 1,500-mm
width and 12-mm thickness.
The related plants are those of Forlì and
Munhall (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US), whose
total area amounts to 500 thousand square
meters, there of 300 thousand
covered.
The tubes are manufactured on 60 lines
for austenitic and ferritic stainless steel welding;
these feature different welding technologies such
as high-frequency, laser, TIG and plasma.
Tubing find application in the automotive field,
against corrosion, and also for structural or
ornamental purposes. Marcegaglia’s stainless
steel products range offers one of the most complete
series of open profiles, of flat (from 10x2 to
200x12 mm) and drawn bars (from 5 to 100 mm).
