Since 2022, Marcegaglia Steel has been a member of ResponsibleSteel™, the leading global industry organization and the first international initiative dedicated to promoting a responsible and sustainable steel industry.
Joining ResponsibleSteel™ represents a concrete commitment for Marcegaglia to generate a positive impact that transcends corporate boundaries. Our work aims to create value for:
- customers, offering products manufactured according to internationally recognized ethical and sustainable standards;
- employees, ensuring a safe work environment based on solid social principles;
- local communities and the ecosystem, operating with respect for the land and natural resources.
In 2026, the Group set the goal of certifying the Marcegaglia Ravenna SpA site according to the ResponsibleSteel™ Standard, marking a concrete step towards certifying steel processing according to advanced environmental, social, ethical, and governance criteria, ensuring transparency and value for all our stakeholders.
This international standard, whose adoption reflects Marcegaglia’s desire to strengthen its governance and promote sustainable industrial development, is based on a complex structure that includes:
• 13 core principles representing a series of fundamental pillars covering environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues;
• over 500 requirements that are externally verified to ensure maximum compliance.
Creating Value
With the certification of the Ravenna site, Marcegaglia confirms its role in the evolution towards responsible production, actively participating in a global network of producers, suppliers, and organizations united by the goal of a more sustainable future.
