Chairwoman Emma Marcegaglia also took part in the two-day dialogue and discussion in Rome, which brought together the business associations of Europe’s three most industrialized countries, along with European Commission Executive Vice President Stéphane Séjourné and Italy’s Minister for Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso.

Europe must once again become a place where industry can invest, innovate and grow. The joint declaration signed by Confindustria, the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie and the Mouvement des Entreprises de France states this clearly: “Efficiency and competitiveness must become central to European policymaking.”

And time is running out. Swift action is needed to remove barriers, simplify regulations and build the infrastructure and conditions that allow European companies to compete on equal footing with the United States and China.

This is not only about innovation: we must operate within a framework that acknowledges our dependence on strategic raw materials, energy and supply chains, and that enables us to seize both the green and digital transitions without risking a loss of production capacity. European manufacturing can – and must – remain a leading force.
