Marcegaglia UK expands production with new stainless steel tube manufacturing in Oldbury

Marcegaglia UK expands its manufacturing capabilities at the Oldbury site, which now produces electro-welded stainless steel tubes. This addition complements the existing production of carbon steel tubes, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing a broad range of high-quality steel products for various applications.

As the world’s top producer of stainless steel welded tubes, Marcegaglia offers a diverse selection of products, including stainless steel process pipes for the food and dairy industry, tubes for heat exchangers and oil & gas applications, as well as construction and ornamental tubes, box sections, and tubes for mechanical and automotive uses.

The production of stainless steel welded tubes at Marcegaglia UK focuses primarily on steel grade 304, adhering to the EN10296-2 standards for round tubes and ASTM A544 standards for square and rectangular tubes.

The Oldbury facility spans 69,000 square meters, with 46,184 square meters of covered space. It is equipped with four production lines for carbon steel tubes, with a total capacity of 70,000 tonnes, alongside three production lines for stainless steel tubes, enhancing the capacity by an additional 30,000 tonnes.

Marcegaglia UK’s production lines are equipped to provide a variety of specific tube finishes, and all tubes undergo rigorous testing, including tensile, flattening, expansion, dimensional, and visual tests, to meet the highest quality standards.

This expansion marks a significant step in Marcegaglia UK’s growth, reflecting its dedication to meeting the diverse needs of its customers across the steel industry.

Furthermore, this advancement positions the company as a newly inducted member of the British Stainless Steel Association (BSSA), reinforcing its commitment to excellence and collaboration within the stainless steel industry.
