The first: the 25^th anniversary of the UN Global Compact, the initiative launched in 2000 by then-UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to unite businesses around the world in promoting universal principles for the protection of human rights, labor, and the environment, and against all forms of illegality and corruption.

The second: the 80^th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, which is being celebrated today in New York with the opening of the General Assembly.

It is a unique opportunity to reaffirm – especially today, in the dramatic context of ongoing wars – that it is still possible to build a model of development and coexistence among peoples that is more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable in practice.
